Starry Night-Vincent van Gogh
Starry Night is the most famous painting by Vincent van Gogh. It is instantly recognizable because of its uniqueness. Starry Night has been a subject of fiction, poetry, CD-ROMs and also a very well-known song called “Vincent” by Don McLean.
Starry Night was painted in 1889 when Vincent was in asylum at Saint Remy. Starry Night was painted from his memory, unlike his other work.
On the left side of the painting there is a plant in the form of curved lines that looks creepy. In the lower right, there is a small town that leads to the mountains. The painting shows the night time and the sky is filled with swirls of blue, yellow, greens. The town is shown by light blue, yellow squares of light which represent the candlelight. The town is shown to be small.
There are eleven stars in the painting, so some people think that there was a religious point of view while painting Starry Night.
